  Guest Lecturers:

Professor Ed Durfee: Edmund H. Durfee is a Professor at the University of Michigan, in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and in the School of Information. He received his PhD from the University of Massachusetts, working with Professor Victor Lesser, and received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University. He has conducted research and published extensively in the areas of coordination in multiagent systems and real-time intelligent control. He has pioneered the use of planning techniques for coordinating agents that must work together to satisfy system requirements. Professor Durfee received a Presidential Young Investigator award in 1991, and is a Fellow of the IEEE and of the AAAI. He has been chair or co-chair for over a dozen completed doctorates, teaches courses in artificial intelligence and computer programming topics, and has been instrumental in making sweeping improvements to the undergraduate programs offered by his department.  He is an associate editor for the International Journal on Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, and has served on many conference program committees.
