Intelligence science is an interdisciplinary subject which is
jointly studied by brain science, cognitive science, artificial
intelligence and others. Intelligence
science not only to conduct functional simulation of intelligent
behavior, but also should research on the mechanism to explore new
theory of intelligence, new technologies.
World Scientific publishes book <Intelligence
Science> which is Volume 1 of the Series on Intelligence Science.
Here is
the first chapter Introduction. |

Series on Intelligence Science
Singapore World Scientific Publishing has decided
to publish Series on Intelligence Science.
"Intelligence Science", "Advanced Artificial Intelligence" have been
selected and assigned contract.
Artificial brain research has made progress
On July 23, 2009,
Henry Markram, a professor from Lausanne Switzerland Institute of
Technology Markham, announced that the "Blue Brain Project" Research has
achieved breakthrough progress. Researchers extracted nearly 1 million
copies of rat brain tissue in vivo and installed the nerve sensors for
each tissue in order to investigate these tissues on how the brain
neurons receive and release signals. Currently, the "Blue Brain Project"
group had completed neural computing of the human brain, and had drawn
up a 3D simulation of neuronal activity diagram. He predicted that
within 10 years artificial brain could be developed, which can bring the
Gospel to nearly 2 billion of brain injury patients.
Long-term memory brain imaging
Kelsey Martin, a
biochemist from the University of California Los Angeles, together with
his colleagues, has made some research on the in the process of memory
formation for "California sea hare”, sea clam snail nerve cells. They
capture long-term memory brain imaging for the first time and
demonstrate that new proteins are produced which makes a long-term
memory.
The
Second National Conference on Intelligent Information Processing has
successfully finished
The Second National
Conference on Intelligent Information Processing, which is hosted by the
Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition,
Computer Professional Committee, China Society of Knowledge Engineering
and distributed artificial intelligence, intelligent professional
committees and co-hosted by China University of Mining, was held on May
22th to 24th 2009 in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. Professor Zhongzhi Shi,
Zhihua Zhou, Jue Wang, Dewen Hu and Ling Zhang are invited to make
special reports. Professor Zhongzhi Shi has made a report on the
Advancement of intelligent information processing research". Contents of
the report.
Special series on Artificial Intelligence and Information Science
‘Frontiers of
Electrical and Electronic Engineering’ (hereinafter referred to as FEE)
is an English academic journal, which is directed by the Ministry of
Education of People's Republic of China. Higher Education Press is
responsible for editing and publishing the journal. Springer is in
charge of issue the journal for overseas. FEE was founded on 2006, the
chief editor for FEE is Li Yanda, the academician of Tsinghua University
while the deputy editor is Zhong Yixin, a professor of Beijing
University of Posts and Telecommunications. The first phase in 2010 will
be published in artificial intelligence and information science series,
Professor Zhongzhi Shi is served as the guest editor. Call for Papers.
Special Report on
Brain-like Computer
After 60 years of
development, the computing speed of the computer reaches 100 trillion
times, but with extremely low intelligence. The Combination of
high-performance of machine and high intelligence of human has become a
highly efficient and effective way to explore information processing.
The research and breakthroughs of brain-like computer will significantly
strengthen China's economic and social sustainable development, national
security and national defense construction. Professor Zhongzhi Shi will
give a special report on brain-like computer on the 4th floor in
Institute of computing technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences at 3:30
pm on May 14th, 2009.
Intelligent computing model based on perception learning and linguistic
cognitive
The key project of Natural Science Foundation
of China ‘Intelligent computing model based on perception learning and
linguistic cognitive(No.60435010)’ has passed the acceptance on February
14-15 in Guangdong. The acceptance group believes that the project has
achieved outstanding progress and agreed to its pass, and Classified as
A.
Neural Network
Neural network is the abstraction
and modeling of human brain or biological neural network, researching on
the nature and capability of Non-process, adaptable, brain-style
information processing It is not only one of the important parts of
intelligence science and computational intelligence, which is based on
the research results of brain science and cognitive neural science but
also extends methods of intelligent information processing, providing
effective ways for solving complex problems and intelligent control. The
new edition of “Neural Network” will be published by higher educational
press. Read the
table of contents.
